Kunst doet Verbinden concludes this year’s workshop series with glass fusing
The final two workshops of Kunst doet Verbinden this year focused entirely on glass fusing. Using coloured glass, different shapes and, above all, their own ideas, participants created their own designs.
For some, it was their first time working with glass. For others, it was simply another opportunity to try something new. And that is exactly what Kunst doet Verbinden is about. You do not need any previous experience, and nothing has to be perfect. It is about exploring, creating and, above all, enjoying a good afternoon together.
During the workshops, participants experimented with colour, shape and composition. Designs were moved around, adjusted and tried again, and of course there was plenty of interest in what others were making as well. Everyone worked with the same kind of materials, yet the results were completely different. That is exactly what makes it so interesting: there is plenty of room for your own style and ideas.
At the same time, we once again saw something that has been part of the project throughout: while people are busy creating, conversations often happen naturally. Participants help each other, exchange ideas and get to know one another along the way. Art is not only about the final piece, but also about creating a space where people can come together.
With these two glass fusing workshops, this year’s workshop series came to an end. Over the past few months, participants have explored a range of art forms and techniques, from clay modelling and painting to welding, Tiffany glasswork and glass fusing. Every workshop was different, but the same idea remained at the heart of them all: trying something new together, making space for creativity and meeting other people.
But we are not quite finished yet. 😊
On Friday 6 November from 12:30, we will bring Kunst doet Verbinden to a festive close with an exhibition at Hobbycentrum Nijmegen. There, we will bring together a selection of the works created over the past months and show what has grown out of the project.
