Youth Education
At Bildung Nijmegen, we develop non-formal educational learning pathways and modules for young people, focused on personal development, global citizenship and critical thinking. These programmes are implemented within educational contexts and are designed as a complement to formal education.

Our youth education activities include Bildung Labs, the Bildung Honour Lab, and global citizenship education modules. Within Bildung Labs, young people work on thematic modules addressing social and personal issues, using reflection, dialogue and experiential learning as core methods.

The Bildung Honour Lab is an in-depth learning trajectory for young people who seek additional space for reflection, personal growth and leadership development. Participants engage with complex themes such as identity, responsibility and social engagement, and are encouraged to develop independent thinking and their own perspectives.

Our global citizenship education modules focus on global challenges, democratic values and interconnectedness. Topics such as sustainability (including e-waste), identity, inclusion and the transition to adulthood (“18 and then?”) are explored from an international and societal perspective.

The youth education programmes are delivered within secondary schools, vocational education (VET), universities of applied sciences and research universities, and can range from stand-alone modules to longer-term learning trajectories. Content and methods are adapted to the age, learning phase and context of the participants.

Across all youth education programmes, we work with clear learning objectives, guided reflection and active participation. Education is understood as a process of awareness, depth and personal growth.
