Art Connects: surprised by Tiffany

On Friday 14 August, a new technique took centre stage during Art Connects: Tiffany glasswork. Guided by artist Claudia Librizzi, participants at Hobbycentrum Nijmegen worked with glass and gradually created their own pieces.

For most participants, working with Tiffany was completely new. That made the surprise at the end of the afternoon even greater. They were impressed not only by what they had created, but also by the process that led up to it. What started as separate pieces of glass slowly turned into something personal and unique. Several participants said afterwards that they would love to take part in more creative workshops like this.

There was also a great atmosphere throughout the afternoon. People looked at each other’s work, helped one another when needed, and conversations developed naturally along the way. Everyone worked on their own creation, but it still felt very much like a shared experience.

We are also noticing that Art Connects is reaching more and more people beyond the workshops themselves. Photos and updates are being shared in different WhatsApp groups, and word of mouth is helping the project reach new people. This has already led to enthusiastic responses from others who would also like to join one of the workshops. It is clear that the project has sparked an appetite for more.

For Claudia, the afternoon was just as enjoyable. She loved leading the workshop, sharing her knowledge of Tiffany glasswork and, above all, seeing how enthusiastic and sometimes genuinely surprised participants were by what they were able to create themselves.

And that is exactly what Art Connects is about. You do not need to have any previous experience with art. By simply giving something new a try, creating alongside others and allowing yourself to experiment, you may discover that you are capable of much more than you expected.

And along the way, new conversations, connections and encounters emerge. Exactly as we hoped they would.
