ESC
European Solidarity Corps
The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a European programme that enables young people to engage in solidarity activities in an international context. Through ESC, young people contribute to social initiatives while developing personally, socially and professionally through learning by doing.

At Bildung Nijmegen, ESC is used as a framework to support young people in learning pathways where social engagement, personal development and reflection come together. Our ESC activities focus on meaningful participation, careful guidance and the well-being and inclusion of participants.

Bildung Nijmegen holds the ESC Quality Label (2025-1-NL02-ESC50-QLA-000388531) and is active as a lead organisation and support organisation. In this role, we support young people who participate in international ESC solidarity projects and collaborate with trusted host organisations in different countries.

Within our ESC trajectories, the learning process is central. Young people are guided in reflecting on their experiences, developing skills and gaining insight into their own role within society. Accessibility, inclusion and personal support are key principles throughout all ESC activities.

We see ESC not only as a volunteering framework, but as a learning pathway in which young people grow in independence, awareness and a sense of responsibility.
