At Bildung Nijmegen, we believe in learning, creating and connecting, not just within classrooms, but across communities, generations and borders.
Our 2026 programme is a reflection of that belief. It brings together students, young adults, educators, artists, researchers, local residents, and international partners.
Part of this programme is already in place. The rest? We’re building it together through dialogue, shared ownership, and co-creation.
🗳️ Youth in Dialogue (Jeugdverbinden 2.0.)
Young people shaping the future of their city
With Youth in Dialogue, we support young adults (16–30) in exploring how local democracy really works and how they can be part of it.
Through workshops, policy labs and direct conversations with city councillors and civil servants, participants learn to turn ideas into action and raise their voice in local decision-making.
“If you live here, grow up here, work or study here, your voice matters here.”
🧓 Don’t Forget About Me Conversations
Stories between generations, shared through words, portraits and memory
In this intergenerational storytelling project, young people connect with older residents across Nijmegen. Through one-on-one conversations, they collect and preserve personal stories, small moments, big memories, silent wisdom.
These stories are then translated into portraits, texts, or exhibitions in community spaces or online. A tribute to those who came before us, and an invitation to listen before it’s too late.
Every life has something to teach if we take the time to listen.
🎨 Art Connects
A space for creative exploration, expression and connection
Led by artist and singer Claudia Librizzi, Art Connects offers accessible art workshops for young adults and community members (18+). No experience needed, just curiosity.
Together, we explore materials like clay, charcoal, paint and collage. But more than that, we explore ourselves, and each other. The workshops are playful, reflective and open to all.
“You might walk in quietly, but you leave with something that speaks.”
🗣️ Roundtable Dialogues
Talking about identity, heritage and who we are today
These small group sessions bring together participants of all backgrounds and ages to reflect on culture, family roots, civic life and belonging.
Sometimes they emerge after our city walks. Sometimes they’re hosted independently. Either way, the aim is the same: creating space for honest, respectful, meaningful conversation.
🏛️ Historic City Walks
Discovering Nijmegen through stories that often go untold
Our guided walks through the city offer a deeper look at its layered history, through the lenses of migration, colonial legacies, activism and memory.
We move through public spaces, personal stories and hidden corners, learning how the past still shapes the present.
For anyone who wants to see their city and themselves differently.
👗 Diversity in Fashion – MuSKa Couture
Fashion as identity, memory and storytelling
Together with designer Mina Wardak and local creatives, we host fashion workshops where participants design their own garments, experiment with textiles and prepare for a community fashion show.
Each piece tells a story about heritage, self-expression, beauty and strength.
Diversity in Fashion is not just about clothing, it’s about culture, confidence and being seen.
🌍 International Projects
Connecting across Europe and beyond
As part of Erasmus+ and other European programmes, Bildung Nijmegen leads and participates in international youth and adult education projects. In 2026, we’ll be working with partners in:
Spain, Malta, France, Sweden, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany
Türkiye, Bosnia, Romania, Guadeloupe and more
We also host exchanges and training programmes right here in Nijmegen, often co-designed with the people we welcome.
Whether you’re a participant, facilitator, artist or volunteer: there’s a place for you.
🎓 Working in and around education
Our work is deeply connected to schools and universities in the region.
We collaborate with institutions like ROC Nijmegen, HAN University of Applied Sciences and Radboud University to bring creativity, dialogue and social learning into the everyday lives of students.
Sometimes that means a guest lecture or workshop. Sometimes a project unfolds over months. Either way: education is a living space, and we’re part of it.
Want to get involved?
Do you have an idea, a story, a skill or just a spark of curiosity?
Whether you’re a student, maker, teacher, activist, partner or neighbour: you’re welcome.
💬 Reach out via DM, email or in person.
Let’s make something meaningful, together.
