Jeugdverbinden 2.0 at the Youth Debate in Nijmegen

On 10 March, Bildung Nijmegen attended the youth debate in Nijmegen together with a group of young people, following an invitation from the municipality in the lead-up to the municipal elections on 18 March.
As part of our KA154 project Jeugdverbinden 2.0, we joined the event to engage with young people around issues that matter to them and to their future in the city. During the debate, different political parties discussed four key themes that had been submitted by our community and the wider public: safety and nightlife, sports and culture, financial security and equal opportunities, and housing and climate.
For the young people in our group, it was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the political parties, explore different perspectives, and reflect on which ideas and plans best matched their own hopes for Nijmegen.
With Jeugdverbinden 2.0, we aim not only to inform young people, but also to actively involve them in democratic and social processes in their own city. Because democracy starts with participation, and that begins with making your voice heard.
