Jeugdverbinden 2.0 continues to grow in Nijmegen

On 14 April, young people came together again for a new Jeugdverbinden 2.0 session at Dar al Yasmin in Nijmegen. Following the first kick off, this was a valuable moment to continue building on the conversations, ideas and themes that had already started to take shape.
This gathering once again focused on what young people themselves find important for their city and their future. In an open and welcoming setting, they spoke with one another about issues that genuinely matter in their lives, such as housing, safety, opportunities, participation and living together. These were not abstract themes, but real questions and experiences that directly shape young people’s everyday reality.
What made the afternoon especially meaningful was the way participants listened to one another, reflected together and built on each other’s stories and ideas. There was space for deeper conversation, recognition and new connections between young people from different backgrounds and perspectives. That is where the strength of Jeugdverbinden 2.0 lies: not only in gathering what is happening, but also in creating trust, involvement and shared direction.
Step by step, the project is taking clearer shape. Based on the experiences and insights of young people, we are building a process in which their voices are not only heard, but genuinely taken seriously. The input from these sessions forms an important foundation for the next steps within Jeugdverbinden 2.0 and for the wider conversation around young people and policy in Nijmegen.
At the same time, this gathering was about more than content alone. It was also about meeting one another, thinking together, strengthening a network and creating a sense that young people are not alone in what they see, feel or care about. That is what makes these gatherings valuable, not only for the project itself, but for the young people involved.
With this new session, another meaningful step has been taken. From first meetings to deeper exchange. From ideas to direction. And from conversation to shared movement.
