From April 14th to 18th, 2025, Bildung Nijmegen joined youth professionals from across Europe in Águeda, Portugal, for a Partnership Building Activity (PBA) focused on social innovation in Erasmus+ projects. The event brought together youth workers, trainers, youth leaders and decision-makers who are passionate about making Erasmus+ more inclusive—especially for young people with fewer opportunities.
Representing Bildung Nijmegen, Virgil took part in a dynamic and inspiring programme filled with interactive workshops, discussions, and networking activities. The main goal of the PBA was to lay the foundation for an informal European network of organisations committed to social innovation in youth work. Together, participants began drafting a joint position paper to be shared with EACEA and other key stakeholders, outlining shared standards and values for promoting a social innovation mindset in Erasmus+.
Throughout the week, the group explored real-life examples of social innovation in youth work, exchanged ideas and tools, and began shaping new international partnerships. Highlights included a youth fair showcasing innovative practices, a walking discovery tour through Buçaco, and collaborative labs where participants designed future projects aimed at improving accessibility and impact in Erasmus+ programmes.
The event was not only about ideas—it was also about building real connections and taking steps toward future cooperation. Hosted in the scenic region of Águeda and supported by the Erasmus+ programme, the PBA created space for meaningful conversations, shared reflection, and the first building blocks of a wider European movement for social innovation in youth work.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to have taken part and excited about the partnerships and projects that will grow from this experience.
